The Rules

The contest will take place at The Wismer House on Saturday, April 20th, from 4–5 pm

Each Contestant must sign a release provided to them by The Wismer House.

Each Contestant must be at least 19 years of age.

Any Contestant with a serious ailment or health problem may not compete in the contest.

All Contestants must submit an entry form to the Wismer House by email, no later than Friday April 19, 2019. Entry form answers will be used by Wismer House for event promotion.

12 Contestants will be chosen by the judges based on order of entry and creativity of entry.

Entry fee for each Contestant: $20. All proceeds of the contest will be donated to The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.

We ask each of our Contestants to be on site 20 minutes prior to their scheduled time.

At the judges’ signal, each Contestant will be served a basket of 8 chicken wings at a time. The contest is timed until all Contestants either 1) give up, 2) reach the 30 minute time limit.

In the event of a tie, there will be a five minute overtime round to decide the winner.

Contestants may eat sitting down or standing up in their designated areas. Any Contestant leaving their designated area during the contest will be disqualified.

Contestants may not make physical contact with any other other Contestant at any time. Any Contestant who deliberately makes contact with another competitor will be disqualified.

If a Contestant vomits or regurgitates outside of their mouth at any time during the competition or during the time period the wing count is being tallied, he or she will be disqualified.

Contestants may not touch the wing basket or wings in the basket before the contest begins.

Contestants must place each and every finished chicken wing bone back in wing receptacle basket.

Chicken meat must be eaten directly from the bones. Stripping the bones of meat first and eating the meat at one time will not be allowed. The use of utensils is not allowed.

Contestants will not be allowed to drink any liquids of any kind and will not be allowed to use a napkin.

A pint of water will be placed in front of each Contestant, if Contestant drinks water at anytime they are disqualified from the competition.

At the end of the thirty minute time period, each Contestant's wing count will be tallied and a winner will be determined.

Judges will be on hand to assure adherence to contest rules, monitor the “no throw up or regurgitating” rule, to judge the “cleanness of the bone”, and to disqualify contestants who fail to adhere to the rules.

If contingencies or disputes arise at the contest/before, during or after, that is not explicitly covered by these official rules, the Executive Judge’s decision will stand with the same finality as the rules.

All Contestants will receive a Wismer House Wing Eating Contest T-Shirt for participating.

The winner will receive a Gift Package and bragging rights until next year.
